Igor Bragado

Igor Bragado is an architect, artist, and architecture critic, part of the Mayrit 2022 curatorial team. As director of the conceptual office of architecture and design Common Accounts, which operates between Toronto and Madrid, his work examines the intersection of the body with material culture, both online and offline, and are characterized by incorporating in his work notions that go beyond the architectural and that regularly go unnoticed by the discipline of design,  such as death, fitness or cosmetics. Common Accounts has recently participated in biennials such as Istanbul, Seoul and Venice, and have presented their work in museums and galleries in New York, Rome, Los Angeles and Seoul, where their work was acquired for the permanent collection of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in South Korea. His most recent works include the detached house Don't Let Me Be Lonely in Canada, Re/Design Death for the Cube Design Museum in the Netherlands, Working Remotely at the a83 gallery in New York, A Section of Now at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal, Refresh Renew at the Azkuna Centre in Bilbao, and Greater Toronto Art 2021 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Toronto. Bragado was a resident at the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome in 2019, and has contributed to the Babelia cultural section of El País as an architecture critic.
