Javier Herreros Ortega

Javier Herreros is an architect and, together with Ana Riaza, runs RH Estudio, a Sustainable Architecture and Urban Planning Office based in Madrid and active both nationally and internationally. 

Since its inception, their work has been linked to the interrelationship between city, building, ecology and landscape.

They have led unique urban projects at all scales, with interventions based on local identity, environmental values, the social rebalancing of the territory and the positive return on energy balance and resource consumption.

They have carried out the projects of the Olympic and Paralympic Village for Madrid's bid for the Olympic Games, the Regeneration Strategy for the Central East of Madrid, the Revision of the General Plan of Madrid, Madrid Nuevo Norte and the Solana de Valdebebas eco-development.

Outside Spain, RH is responsible for the Urban Regeneration projects of Punta Pacifica, in Panama City, the Master Plan and Adaptation to Climate Change of Cartagena de Indias and recovery of areas of El Mamonal and Puerta de Hierro, or the Darsait Cultural Complex in Muscat, Oman. 

They are currently developing several Regeneration and Urban Transformation Projects of Industrial Zones in the city centres, the Regeneration of the Mining Area of Lousal in Portugal, and the Implementation of several large-scale Communities of Active Adults in Spain and Norway.

In building RH has experience in sustainable housing, community facilities, catering and accommodation.

RH has received several awards and recognitions in his career, participates in different forums and lectures and advises public administrations and private corporations.
