Puerto de la Paz: a city of canals, promenades and parks

The urban project for the Puerto de la Paz by Silvestre Pérez in Abando, Bilbao, is one of the most suggestive of Spanish Enlightenment urban planning despite only one autograph plan is surviving. A re-reading of the project based on the reconstruction of the original topography of the site – which was heavily altered after the construction of the Bilbao expansion – has shed light on those aspects of the project that are most genuine but least understood by the studies carried out to date. This approach has revealed the precision of the proposal and it’s fitting to the topography, permitting materialized the study on a model made in the FabLAB of the Architecture School of the UPV/EHU.
