Ocamica Tudanca Arquitectos

Ocamica Tudanca arquitectos is a young architecture firm founded in 2017, formed by Iñigo Ocamica and Iñigo Tudanca.

They both graduated from the San Sebastián Technical School of Architecture (ETSASS, UPV-EHU), and completed the qualifying master's degree at the Vallès Technical School of Architecture (ETSAV, UPC). Iñigo Tudanca is also a Technical Architect from the University of Burgos (UBU).

Their collaboration began during the master's year at ETSA Vallès (UPC). The project developed was nominated for the Young Talent Architecture Awards 2017, from the Mies Van Der Rohe Foundation. Since then, they have worked together both developing public works (through competitions) and selected private projects.

Despite their not very extensive career, they have managed, among others, to be selected by the FAD Awards in the International category for their project of ‘el jardín (in)temporal’ at the 2018 Venice Biennale; as well as being a Cataloged work in the Arquia / Próxima Awards - VII Festival. In the case of the Main Plaza of Mansilla Mayor, the project has been distinguished with the AJAC 2020 ex-aequo Award, in the Urbanism and Landscape category; the FAD City and Landscape Award 2020; and awarded at the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism BEAU XV. They have recently been recognized with the Peña Ganchegui 2021 Prize for young Basque architecture.

They define their work as follows: «We work with commitment and rigor, valuing each project as a new challenge, regardless of the nature of the assignment, its scale, location or budget. We value the context with respect. We work with the needs and limitations of the project as design tools, understanding them as potential opportunities. The objective is to find unique atmospheres that dialogue with the environment and that may be evocative for the occupant. We try to give specific answers to each project and place, paying special attention to ease of use and constructive clarity; always looking for a pertinent architecture. "
